10 Scenes From the 'Harry Potter' Books That Didn't Make it Into the Movies

Of course it's no surprise that filmmakers had to cut out some details from the Harry Potter books while making of the movies. Not every little moment can make it, but there are still some scenes from the books that only diehard fans can cherish forever. To look back and reminisce over the scenes that were left out but never forgotten, here's a list, in no particular order, of 10 moments we wish the creators of the Harry Potter film series had included in the movies.
1. Peeves
Peeves the Poltergiest is a character that Harry Potter fans love to hate. He's always there to start trouble with our favorite trio and cause havoc. But we love him, as he's kind of funny when you think about it. With lines like "Naughty, naughty, you'll get caughty," Peeves was like the comic relief during some of the more serious scenes in the book.
In the end Peeves did us proud and listened for once to Fred, who ordered him to harass Dolores Umbridge.
2. Ginny and Harry's real first kiss
Ginny and Harry's real first kiss actually happened in a way more romantic scenario in the books than in the movies. Instead of kissing in the quiet hush of the Room of Requirement, Harry was greeted by the Gryffindor Quidditch team celebrating their win, where he struck up the courage to grab Ginny and kiss her right in front of everyone.
3. Dumbledore scolding the Dursleys
In The Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore pays the Dursleys a visit and performs various spells in front of them to freak them out. But the best part of the uncomfortable encounter is that he scolds the Muggles about treating Harry nicely. He says, "You did not do as I asked. You have never treated Harry as a son. He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands."
4. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs
The backstory we get in Prisoner of Azkaban about Harry's parents and their friends, Lupin, Sirius, and Peter, is probably one the more interesting parts of the whole series. We know that they made the Marauders Map together and were naughty school boys, but we didn't know that Harry's dad, Sirius, and Peter all changed into unregistered Animagi to comfort Lupin when he turned into a werewolf.
5. S.P.E.W.
S.P.E.W., or Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare, was created by Hermione in Goblet of Fire. In the books, Hermione cared about all magical creatures, not just witches and wizards. This was her way of giving back and taking care of the creatures who couldn't take care of themselves.
6. The Sphinx's clue during the third challenge
During the third challenge in the maze of Goblet of Fire, Harry is greeted by a Sphinx who does not move out of the way until Harry answers her riddle. The riddle asks which creature you wouldn't want to kiss, and Harry, after fumbling for an answer, says a spider, and is let go. While it isn't a pivotal scene it still would have been interesting to see.
7. Harry's moments with Sirius
In Goblet of Fire, Sirius hides away in dog form in a cave near Hogsmeade, in order to talk to Harry and to act as confidante throughout the book. This is just an example of the scenes we love from godfather and godson, and their relationship is solidified even more when we see that Sirius (in dog form) lays in watch over Harry's bed after the tournament is finished.
8. The Gaunt family flashbacks
As we see in Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore sends Harry through various memories to get to the bottom of the Horcrux mystery, but what we don't see on the big screen is the memory of Voldemort's pureblood family, the Gaunts. In the scenes we see Merope, his mother who gives a love potion to a Muggle, Tom Riddle, and her getting pregnant with Tom Jr.
9. Tonks and Lupin's romance
One romance that was put on the back burner but had some cryptic lines in the movies was Tonks and Lupin. At first, Lupin denies Tonks and doesn't want to be with her because he's a werewolf and thinks he might hurt her. In the end though, they wind up getting married and have a son named Teddy, making Harry his godfather.
10. Neville almost being the Chosen One
When Dumbledore's Army shows up at the Hall of Prophecies in Order of the Phoenix, the orb says, "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies." This prophecy fits both Harry and Neville. They acknowledge this in the books, and it is very weird.
