All About Late Luke Perry's Final Episode of 'Riverdale'
By Hannah Wigandt
Last night's episode of Riverdale was the late Luke Perry's last on the show. Fans have been wondering for how much longer the actor would be featured on the CW series, after his sudden death on March 4, 2019. Now we know Perry's last scene, and as always, Fred Andrews went out giving some of his best advice.
Despite not technically being written out the show yet, Riverdale's executive producer Roberto Aguirre Sacasa says that last night's episode featured the last scene Perry filmed. Sacasa announced this on social media, and called the scene "a beautiful, true moment between a father and his son." It definitely didn't disappoint.
During last week's episode, Archie's boxing opponent, Randy, died during one of their fights due to the drugs he was taking. Last night's episode saw the repercussions of Randy's death and how Archie was handling it. Despite Veronica trying to prove to Randy's family that his death wasn't Archie's fault, Archie was definitely feeling some guilt considering he knew Randy was on drugs and didn't stop the fight. But Fred came to Archie's rescue once again to give his son some comfort, a talent he's shown in the past.
"Son, from everything you've said, it's clear that Randy died from those drugs. An autopsy will support that. You're innocent," Fred said to to his son.
The scene was a sort one, but it couldn't have been more fitting for Perry's last scene to be giving Archie words of wisdom. Perry's comforting dialogue was very welcome during the hectic episode, which also saw Jughead and his family going to great lengths to get Jellybean back, and Betty being chased by the cult at the Farm.
We'll see how Riverdale plans to write out Perry's Fred Andrews in the coming episodes, which air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
