Amber Portwood Reacts to Daughter Leah Having Panic Attack in New 'Teen Mom OG' Episode
On Monday's episode of Teen Mom OG, Amber Portwood learned that her daughter, Leah, had a panic attack while on a school field trip. Gary Shirley and his wife, Kristina, were out getting manicures at the time for Mother's Day.
As reported by Us Weekly, after Amber first heard about Leah's panic attack, her primary concern was with Kristina and Gary for not letting her know right away. Amber's rooted worry was that she herself began having panic attacks at age nine, the same age as Leah.
Amber said in the episode, “I feel like you guys aren’t telling me anything right now. Kristina, when things like this happen, I would really like to know.”
When Kristina asked Gary about the situation later, Gary said he didn't know Leah was struggling so much, citing her good grades as proof. He said she had nothing more than "tweeny" problems, but Kristina made an appointment with their pediatrician and committed to keeping Amber in the loop.
Kristina said of the situation, "I think that, as a mother, I see where she comes from. One thing we can do is to call Leah's pediatrician. Amber was talking about her psychiatrist or her therapist."
Gary was reluctant and didn't want Leah to feel that she was being "put in a category." He went on, "I want Leah to be her own person and not to be shadowed by something her mother has. All I know is that she's OK."
When Amber spoke with her boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, she cried and said, "All I want is for her to be healthy, and I don't want her to have panic attacks and things like that, because I remember how horrible it was for me as a kid."
"I've said for years now, I've prayed to God that this would never happen to any of my kids," Amber concluded.
Teen Mom OG continues on Monday nights on MTV.
