Fans ready to explore more of the underwater world of Aquaman will have to wait to put those flippers on, because Warner Bros just announced the release date for Aquaman 2. And let's just say it would be quicker to travel 20,000 leagues under the sea.
Aquaman 2, starring Jason Momoa, will hit theaters on December 16, 2022. It's a long wait but fans are still excited considering how well the first Aquaman did, racking up $1.1 billion at the global box office, making the film as the highest-grossing DCEU film ever.
Aquaman made $335 million in America alone, which seats the movie behind Wonder Woman as second highest-grossing DCEU movie in America.
There has already been speculation on whether Aquaman director, James Wan, will resume post for the sequel, but considering Wan's frequent collaborator David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will be writing the script, it's likely Wan will be on board.
Along with the awaited sequel, DC is also reportedly doing a spinoff movie of the blockbuster, called The Trench.
