On today's episode of "Unlikely Twitter Threads," we're going to be taking a look at a feud between what may be one of the stranger combinations of people to have beef on the internet--Piers Morgan and Ariana Grande (and Ariana's mother Joan, too).

Just kidding. But if that were a show, this would be the pilot episode.

Earlier this week, Grande took to Twitter to share that she had officially sat down with Morgan of America's Got Talent fame to straighten out the feud between them that began with a response Morgan posted to a picture of popular British girl group Little Mix.

The whole discrepancy started when Morgan tweeted about his distaste for a symbolic photoshoot done by the group, in which the members were nude and covered with written words for their music video Strip.

Grande's mother, Joan, clapped back at the British journalist in the tweet to end all tweets.

Following the initial interaction, Joan's record-breaking pop star daughter Ariana stepped in with a few thoughts of her own.

After some more back and forth with Morgan, it didn't look like the two would ever be on the same page. However, their encounter at an L.A. restaurant apparently led to a discussion, which led to a reconciliation. Yet, many of Grande's followers are concerned that Grande is excusing Morgan, who has a history of finding himself in the spotlight for controversial views, too easily.

Many users took it a step further, bringing up times in which Ariana has found herself in a negative spotlight for cultural appropriation.

Following the backlash, both Morgan and Grande took to Twitter to comment on how productive the talk was, and expressed their confusion as to why there was backlash in the first place.

The conversation was not expected to happen, and was also not expected to have this amount of backlash. Who knows what will happen next in this strange saga.
