Ariana Grande Just Won Halloween With Iconic 'Twilight Zone' Episode Costume

Ariana Grande just won Halloween, and is sharing an important message in the process: beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

People reports that the “Thank U, Next” singer began dropping hints for her epic Halloween costume earlier this week. She first posted a picture of the title sequence to The Twilight Zone, then began sharing video clips of Season 2 Episode 6 from the series, “Eye of the Beholder,” which aired in Nov. 1960.

If you’ve never seen the iconic episode, it follows a woman named Janet Tyler who has undergone her eleventh treatment--the maximum number legally allowed--in an attempts to look “normal.” However, the procedure fails, and her face does not change. The camera zooms out to reveal that she is actually very beautiful by today's standards, but then shows that the doctor and nurses all have large, twisted lips and wrinkled noses with extremely large nostrils. Tyler is forced to live in a bad area where “her ugliness” will not disturb the new, conformity-driven state.

Grande revealed her spooky costume last night via Instagram, sporting the deformed pig-like faces of the doctors and nurses from the episode, along with a cigarette and vintage-glam inspired outfit. She captioned the photos, “eye of the beholder” and “final procedure was a success.”
