'Avengers: Endgame' Trailer Might Hint Time Travel Won't Be Used After All
By Hannah Wigandt
Marvel fans got a surprise today when the franchise dropped not only the movie poster for Avengers: Endgame, but also the second trailer. The trailer is eerie and exciting at the same time, and of course has unleashed about a million fan theories out into the internet. This includes one from Reddit that argues the trailer proves the superheroes won't be using time travel as previously believed.
Redditor Spensauras-Rex believes the trailer hints at the characters being in alternate realities, instead of time traveling. They believe this because in the old footage from previous Marvel movies, there's always something red amongst the black and white scenes. The new trailer showed that, bringing us back through MCU history. The reason for this might be that the red color represents the red reality stone.
"In the beginning of the new Endgame trailer, it shows footage from old movies. It's all black and white except for one color: red. There has to be some kind of significance to this besides the Marvel logo being red," the theorist writes.
Going off this belief, instead of killing half the universe, maybe all Thanos did in Avengers: Infinity War was send them to another reality. The user explains that perhaps the characters will use their banishment for good, and will travel through realities using the quantum realm to stop Thanos.
We'll see for sure how the Avengers beat Thanos once and for all when Endgame premieres on April 26.
