Watch New Bachelor Matt James Recall Tyler Cameron's Late Mom Nominating Him for the Show
By Rachel Reed
Matt James believes that Tyler Cameron's mom would be "happy to know" he followed through with joining The Bachelor franchise. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the new leading man got very candid, revealing Andrea was the one to nominate him.
In the clip, Matt tells Lauren Zima the touching reasons he believes Tyler's late mom nominated him before she passed away. He explains the experience of joining The Bachelorette "changed Tyler as a man" for the better, saying how Andrea wanted him to have an equally formative experience, and of course, find the right girl. He visibly becomes emotional at one point during the interview, and we can't blame him!
Andrea's nomination gave Matt the final push he needed to join the ABC franchise. He continues in the video below with, "I wanted to see it through for her and just to see if I would be compatible with Clare."
Of course, fans know that Matt will no longer be competing for Clare's rose, and instead will be leading the franchise himself as the first-ever black Bachelor. The news was announced on Good Morning America last week, and followers of the franchise couldn't be happier.
