Even though she famously claimed he wasn't a match in her song "Thank U, Next," Ariana Grande was spotted with Big Sean while leaving a recording studio in Los Angeles last week.

Of course, the exes being spotted together sparked romance rumors on social media. It appeared Sean answered Ariana's call to "break up with your girlfriend."

However, we now know that Sean didn't leave his girlfriend, Jhené Aiko, to immediately get back with Ariana. US Weekly reported on Saturday that the Detroit-based rapper and Aiko split back in mid-December of 2018.

“I wouldn’t say it was amicable. But now they are civil towards each other,” an insider told the publication. As for Sean's relationship status, the source said: “Big Sean is single right now, from what Jhené has heard.”

The report that Sean is single comes a couple of days after Ariana denied that the two are anything more than good friends. Commenting on an Instagram post that asked fans for their opinions about the two artists getting back together, Ariana replied, "Didn’t I already tell you we’re friends, been friends and always will be. What's not clickin."

We're unsure if Ari and Sean are trying to rekindle their relationship that ended four years ago, or if they're really just friends who enjoy hanging out together. But now that we know the rapper is no longer with Jhené, the door is wide open for Grande.
