Billie Lourd Shares Touching Tribute to Mom Carrie Fisher on 2-Year Anniversary of Her Death

Two years ago today, Carrie Fisher tragically passed away at the age of 60. The acclaimed actress, known best for her role as Leia Organa in the Star Wars series, was a beloved daughter, mother, and friend to many. Her legacy continues with her 26-year-old daughter Billie Lourd, who not only is an actress herself, but also appears in the new Star Wars films.

Today, Lourd has taken to social media to share a touching tribute to her mom in the form of music. "It has been two years since my Momby’s death and I still don’t know what the 'right' thing to do on a death anniversary is (I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones). So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together - sing," Lourd begins in her caption.

So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together - sing. This is the piano her father gave her and this was one of her favorite songs. And as the song says, we must “keep on moving”. I’ve found that what keeps me moving is doing things that make me happy, working hard on the things that I’m passionate about and surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile. I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to “keep on moving”. As my Momby once said, “take your broken heart and turn it into art” - whatever that art may be for you. ❤️

What a beautiful tribute. Our thoughts are with Lourd and the whole family on this difficult day.

On the one-year anniversary of Fisher's death, Lourd and her father, Bryan Lourd, went to Norway to see the Northern Lights in tribute. The actress also took to social media at the time to share photos of the trip, explaining that her mother "had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights," but the pair never got to see them together.

"I love you times infinity," Lourd concluded the caption.

We remember Carrie Fisher on this day and always.
