British Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns after just 45 days in office
Liz Truss, British Prime Minister, announced on Oct. 20, 2022, that she will be resigning from her postion as Prime Minister after just 45 days in office.
Marking her as the shortest-serving Prime Minister in UK history. Speaking outside 10 Downing Street, she said: “I recognize though given the situation I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative party.”
Unfortunately, history books will not be kind about the lady of the hour. In her 45th day in office, Britain’s prime minister threw in the towel amid a series of blows to her leadership. She had promised a radical new era of economic growth. Instead, she will be remembered for her many U-turns, unforced political and huge economic blunders.
The UK Conservative party now has to choose a leader they think can bring stability. Whoever it is will want to last a lot longer than Ms Truss.
