Charlie Cox Was 'Very Excited' About Pitched Season 4 of 'Daredevil' Before Cancellation

Fans of Netflix's Marvel series Daredevil were absolutely heartbroken when it was announced this past November that it had been cancelled after three beloved seasons. The show's axe came after the streaming service also cancelled Iron Fist and Luke Cage, two Marvel shows with large fanbases. And of course, Daredevil star Charlie Cox was just as upset as fans. In a recent interview, the 36-year-old actor even shared there were concrete plans for another next season.
While talking to Collider, Cox confirmed Season 4 was very much in the works, at least from the show's writers.
"I know that they pitched the whole season to Netflix. I knew little details ‘cause typically I don’t like to know the whole story whilst it’s being written, but I knew the basics of the ideas that they had, and I was very excited," Cox shared. "Based on the response that Season 3 had, I was under the impression that we would absolutely be making more seasons of television, so I was very shocked and obviously deeply saddened because I love that character and I’ve loved the show."
While Cox did acknowledge how upset he was at the cancellation, he went on to speak highly of his experience on the show and moving forward. "It’s been one of the great privileges of my career, to be involved with Netflix and Marvel, and to play this character," he continued. "I was looking forward to another couple of years of it, so I was very sad. But in the interest of being positive and looking forward, I’m also grateful that we got to end on such a high."
At least we know the show wasn't cancelled due to loss of interest. As it was regarded by many as the best of the Marvel shows on Netflix, a petition was created trying to get it back. It currently has over 200,000 signatures and counting.
