Chris Evans Sends His Captain America Shield to Child Who Went Viral for Saving His Sister From Dog Attack

While it's easy to recognize a superhero in the movies by their capes and spandex, real-life heroes can be harder to spot. Luckily, Chris Evans has a keen eye for these things after playing Captain America for so long. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the actor sent a thoughtful video message to a six-year-old boy named Bridger, who saved his sister from being attacked by a dog. Evans even promised to send the boy a very special gift—his own official Captain America shield!

"Pal, you're a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless — your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you," Evans said in the message. He told Bridger he would be sending him, "an authentic Captain America shield because pal, you deserve it."

The video, which you can watch below, was shared by Bridger's aunt, who explained the incident on Instagram. "On July 9th, my six-year-old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog," she wrote. "After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, 'If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.'" Bridger had to get 90 stitches at the hospital. What a brave kid!

"Keep being the man you are, we need people like you," Evans continued. "Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I've seen, I don't think there's much that can slow you down."

Bridger and his family have received an outpouring of support on social media, and fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Tom Holland even called to commend him for his heroism!
