There will always be speculation on who will be cast as the new James Bond, simply because the iconic character has constantly been reimagined and rebooted since the 1960s. As Daniel Craig might be out on the role after the upcoming Bond 25, names have been jumping out on who should replace him. The newest name to surface? Chris Hemsworth, thanks to the actor himself.

Hemsworth is currently busy helping his co-stars hype up their new movie, Avengers: Endgame, but after the film premieres, Hemsworth would be free to pursue the role if it becomes available. The Australian actor says he's on board, and that he would "love" to play Bond.

“When we were shooting Rush someone had said that and I thought, ‘Cool, if this is my audition tape, then great,’” Hemsworth told Balance about the possibility of taking on the role. “I don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone who doesn’t want to have a crack at James Bond. I’d love to do it.”

If Hemsworth got the role, he would be the second Australian to play the famous super spy, after George Robert Lazenby in 1969's On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

But landing the role as Bond doesn't come that easy and is, “up to so many elements and is way beyond myself; it’s not one you can pitch yourself on to either,” Hemsworth said.

Meanwhile, fans will just have to make do with watching Hemsworth in Avengers: Endgame, in theaters April 26.
