'Teen Mom OG's Cory Wharton Breaks Silence After Girlfriend Taylor Selfridge is Fired by MTV
Big news in the MTV world came yesterday, as it was announced that Taylor Selfridge was being dropped by the network. The Are You The One? alum had a show due to premiere this week alongside her boyfriend Cory Wharton, titled Teen Mom OG at Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special, however it was abruptly replaced. MTV then released a statement explaining they were cutting ties with Taylor after past racist tweets had resurfaced.
While Taylor took to her Instagram Story to claim that it was actually her decision to no longer film with MTV, "for the benefit of myself and my daughter," Cory is now discussing the big move. The dad-of-two spoke to E! News, explaining he's still going to be filming with MTV. He stated:
"One of my favorite athletes of all-time is Kobe Bryant and one of his favorite philosophies is ‘Control what you can control.' What I can't control, though, is the decisions that MTV as a company has made. I have not parted ways with MTV. That needs to be understood. I've learned that burning bridges is never the solution. Even though I have no ill-will against MTV, I am disappointed and saddened by their decision."
Taylor also acknowledged the offensive tweets in her Instagram Story, writing, "Once again, I apologize for anyone I have hurt or offended in the past. I have addressed my mistakes many times on the network and I would like [to] move on and continue to be the best version of myself. My past does not define who I am today and I hope you guys can see the change."
Considering Cory joined Teen Mom OG because his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Cheyenne Floyd, became one of the show's stars, we're sure he'll still make appearances. But as for Taylor, she's clearly out, and we shouldn't expect any content from her whatsoever on the network moving forward.
