Dacre Montgomery Says Billy Will Have a 'Redemptive Ending' in 'Stranger Things' Season 3
We have only a few days left until Stranger Things finally returns to Netflix for its third season, and all anyone can talk about is the speculated new monster in Hawkins, who many are convinced is Billy Hargrove. Fans have come up with a convincing theory based on footage we've seen from the upcoming episodes, with the final trailer all but confirming the bad boy will be going under some type of menacing transformation.
The actor behind the character, Dacre Montgomery, recently dished to Digital Spy about what we can expect from Billy in the new season, and teased something major. When asked if he'd have a bigger role, the 24-year-old actor said, "I can tease that I did indeed get a role that I think any creative would be hugely grateful to receive this season." He then added, "I get a role that has a lot of darkness and depth, but I think has a really redemptive ending. Which I'm really happy about."
The fact that Montgomery says his role gets a "redemptive ending" is extremely telling, although he was trying to remain tight-lipped. This gives us a ton to speculate over--most importantly, does he die? If he does become the new monster, perhaps he'll somehow sacrifice himself to save Hawkins in the end. It'll have to be a major move to be considered redemption, especially if he does turn into the host for an Upside Down creature.
We'll find out everything soon, thankfully, as Stranger Things Season 3 debuts on July 4.
