Daisy Ridley Confirms She Won't Be in the Next 'Star Wars' Trilogies
By Ryan Carroll
Though Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is months away, fans are already turning an eye to the next trilogies in the franchise. Recently, rumors have begun to swirl about potential cast members in these next installments, with sequel trilogy star Daisy Ridley among those purported to be involved--but this week, the actress said she will not be involved in the next trilogies.
Ridley spoke to BuzzFeed (via ScreenRant) on the topic, explaining that no matter which filmmaker's trilogy is next, she won't be involved. "I mean, I can say I’m not in the next trilogy," the 27-year-old actress stated. "No. I think, 'cause Rian [Johnson] always said…if it’s the Rian one…or it’s the guys that did Game of Thrones. I’m not sure. Whichever one it was, they always said it was going to be a separate story. So I’m not. No."
In the months leading up to The Rise of Skywalker, announcements have indicated that there will be two more trilogies of Star Wars films, one spearheaded by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and one led by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. Last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the first film of the next trilogy will hit theaters in 2022, and will be directed by Benioff and Weiss.
We’re excited to see where the Star Wars franchise goes next--and we’re even more excited to see The Rise of Skywalker when it hits theaters on Dec. 20.
