Deborah Chow Explains How Working on Obi-Wan Kenobi Show Will Be Different From 'The Mandalorian'

Ewan McGregor confirmed in 2019 that he would reprise his role as young Obi-Wan Kenobi in a live-action series for Disney+, and Star Wars fans could not be more excited. However, the series has faced several setbacks. Pre-production was put on hold in Jan. 2020 while early scripts were overhauled and new writers for the show could be found, but it was then confirmed that the series would thankfully move forward as planned.

As reported by CinemaBlend, filmmaker Deborah Chow, who directed two episodes of The Mandalorian, has been tapped to direct the entirety of the McGregor-led series. When it comes to the differences between working on The Mandalorian and the Obi-Wan series, Chow knows she is set up for a challenge.

“It's definitely going to be different, just in terms of the sheer workload, obviously, of doing the whole thing. But in some ways, I'm going to miss having a team, and having people who are there to bounce ideas off of. But then obviously the flip side is, it is nice to have a coherent voice and know what you're doing from beginning to end," Chow explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

Chow's work on The Mandalorian was amazing, so I'm sure the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will come together just as wonderfully. Production for the series is expected to start in Jan. 2021.
