Disappointed Brody Jenner Says Dad Caitlyn Had 'Better Things to Do' Than Go to His Wedding

Though the story of Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition captured many, involving them in her struggle to be seen as she truly is, there was another Jenner who got less attention during the process--Caitlyn’s son Brody, who shared this week his disappointment that she did not attend his wedding.
Brody shared his feelings on Caitlyn (whom he and his siblings refer to as their dad) during this week’s episode of The Hills: New Beginnings during a dinner with wife Kaitlynn Carter, brother Brandon, and mother Linda Thompson. “Not having my dad at the wedding, it was a bummer. Honestly, it really did hurt,” he said, according to Us Weekly. “I would have loved to have had her there, but she had better things to do, apparently.”
Brody and Carter married in Bali last June after years of dating, but Caitlyn was not present, instead visiting Austria for the 25th Life Ball, an event supporting individuals with HIV and AIDS.
Previously, Brody has noted that Caitlyn was not present for his graduation or many of his birthdays even before her transition, and has said that while he is glad that Caitlyn transitioned, he also feels that, “She’s off living her life, so what I’ve learned is to just not expect too much from her.”
Thompson, meanwhile, attempted to open up the possibility for Brody to forgive Caitlyn. “I don’t give [Caitlyn] a pass for not being a father. I don’t think there’s any excuse ever to not be there for your children,” she said. “I’m not excusing Caitlyn, I’m just saying it’s forgivable...You have to forgive, so it doesn’t eat away inside you.”
If you ask us, Thompson is right. While Caitlyn certainly hasn’t shown herself to be a good parent to Brody, it’s important to leave yourself open to forgiving the people in your life.
