Emilia Clarke and Richard Madden Land Spots on Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2019 List

TIME has just released its Most Influential People of 2019 list, and two of Game of Thrones actors earned spots.

Richard Madden, who played Robb Stark up until Season 3 of GoT, going on to win a Golden Globe for his starring role in 2018's Bodyguard, and Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Thrones, have been honored with spots on the highly regarded list.

Emma Thompson, who stars alongside Clarke in the upcoming comedy Last Christmas, wrote about the 32-year-old actress for TIME's list, sharing that being in her presence was so enjoyable that she felt like she drank a glass of champagne too quickly.

"Bear in mind that I despise the word bubbly, but my first encounter with Emilia left me with the impression of having just drunk a glass of high-quality champagne rather quickly," Thompson wrote. "Steady on, I thought. First impressions can mislead. The intimacy of a nine-week shoot will reveal all. Especially one that starts—starts, mind you—at 2 a.m."

"What was revealed was a woman of mickle might, whose instincts, whetted by years of hard work in environments that were not always safe or healthy, are as finely honed as any I’ve encountered. She has the courage of a small lion, the stamina of a Welsh pit pony and the soul of a clown. A powerhouse to watch and an ally to die for," Thompson concluded.

As for Richard Madden, director/actor Kenneth Branagh had a few words to describe him.

"Richard Madden has a rigor and a discipline in his work that makes him a very tough self-critic," Branagh began. "In fact, he’s much tougher on himself than anyone else is. In him, this is an asset."

Branagh then explained that Madden and the prince he played in 2015's Cinderella have one thing in common, as they're both gentlemanly.

"Richard can certainly unleash wildness and ruthlessness when the role requires a charisma of danger." Branagh continued. "He was an electrifying Romeo when I directed him onstage in Romeo & Juliet. But he is also innately courtly and courteous, and mindful of others. This is a distinct part of his intense sex appeal, which combines those bedroom eyes with a romantic sensitivity. In Bodyguard, Richard’s intelligence and physicality worked at perfect pitch alongside his rigorous self-discipline. It paid off to frightening and moving effect."

There's no doubt that the two actors are very influential to the entertainment world. We can't wait to see what they achieve next.
