Emilia Clarke Reveals What She'd Want More of if 'Game of Thrones' Was Remade

While the petition for a redo of Game of Thrones Season 8 ticks by, many of the series' cast members have been quick to denounce it, calling it "disrespectful," among other things. But as it turns out ignorance is bliss for one of the stars, because the Mother of Dragons was unaware of the petition until very recently.
While her co-stars have been responding to the season's backlash, Emilia Clarke didn't even know a petition had been started until her interview with The New Yorker. When the petition was revealed to Clarke, instead of writing it off she was willing to give an answer about what the season should change if there were reshoots.
"Oh, my goodness," Clarke started. "Well, I can only speak to my own character, and the people that I interact with on the show. But I would’ve loved some more scenes with me and Missandei. I would’ve loved some more scenes with me and Cersei. Oh! Yeah. I would’ve loved some more scenes between Grey Worm and Missandei. I would’ve loved to see a bit more between Cersei… I feel like there was… The genocide was there. That was always going to happen. And I just think more dissection and those beautifully written scenes that the boys have between characters—that we are more than happy to contently sit there and watch ten minutes of two people talking, because it’s beautiful. I just wanted to see a bit more of that. But I’m in no position to critique the geniuses that have written eight seasons’ worth of wonderful stuff."
Even though Clarke indulged in what she wanted to have seen, she admits it wasn't up to her. It was the showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss' creative outlet, along with the other writers, and as artists they were able to do anything they wanted in the show.
"Regardless of the final season’s narrative’s origin, the Thrones writers have planned Dany’s fate for years and have foreshadowed the dark turn in the storyline," Clarke added. She also explained that in previous seasons, producers would sometimes ask her to play a scene a bit differently than what she expected for a seemingly fair character. “There’s a number of times I’ve been like: ‘Why are you giving me that note?’” she recalled. “So yes, this has made me look back at all the notes I’ve ever had.”
Clarke's character Daenerys Targaryen suffered most of the backlash from fans, after the shocking shift in her motives turned her into the series' ultimate villain.
