Fan Theory Asks if Tyrion is Playing Both Sides in 'Game of Thrones'
By Hannah Wigandt
We're praying the creators of Game of Thrones have some surprises up their sleeves for the final two episodes of the series. The eighth season has been received with mixed opinions from fans, but one on Reddit thinks if their theory about Tyrion Lannister comes true, we'll be getting one of the biggest twists of the whole show.
Redditor dcktop argues Tyrion Lannister is a double agent. The user explains that Tyrion has been coming up with some pretty weak solutions for Daenerys Targaryen, particularly this season, even though he's supposed to be one of the smartest people in Westeros. What if he's been purposefully suggesting bad ideas so the Mother of Dragons won't win the upcoming battle against Cersei Lannister?
"In the show, Tyrion has always been considered the smartest person in Westeros, yet his advice to Dany has been uniformly bad and has resulted in her forces being decimated," the Redditor explains. "So much so that his newfound stupidity is ever remarkable to other characters like Sansa. Seems like he might just be faking it."
The user goes on to explain that Tyrion has to have some kind of alliance with Cersei, which could be why she doesn't order to kill him in the latest episode, "The Last of Starks." When Cersei agrees to send her troops up north in Season 7 (which doesn't happen), it could be that Cersei and Tyrion planned for Tyrion to look innocent in the whole deception.
If anything, it seems like Cersei still has a soft spot for the brother she claims to hate, and Tyrion will no doubt play a huge role in the battle to come, especially since he's one of the few people who know about Jon's true identity.
We have only two episodes left of Game of Thrones to find everything out.
