Fans Speculate 'Bachelor in Paradise' Will Be Cancelled This Year Amid Coronavirus Concerns

I know everyone has been trying to remain calm amid the Coronavirus pandemic (while taking the appropriate safety precautions, of course), but now fans of The Bachelor franchise have another reason to panic—many are speculating that Bachelor in Paradise could be cancelled.

Bachelor in Paradise usually premieres in early August, with filming getting underway a while before. ABC first had changed international filming locations for Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette due to the risk from the virus, and has now postponed production altogether, which was set to begin March 13. Given this, we're sure there's no way her season could premiere in May as planned, thus setting back the schedule for BIP as well.

OK, so BIP enthusiasts are actually taking the prospect of a cancelled season pretty well. One Redditor posted this hilarious meme below that pretty much sums up the general reaction.

Another Redditor commented, “The Circle and Love is Blind were way ahead of their time,” referring to two recent Netflix reality series that had contestants date virtually and in isolation. It seems unlikely that ABC will hustle together a Bachelor in Quarantine, but these are strange times, so who knows.

There has been a lot of speculation about who might be cast on BIP 2020. Of the women from Peter Weber’s season, it seems contestants like Kelsey Weier and Victoria Fuller will be top picks, and Hannah Ann Sluss hinted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the video below that she might be headed to the beach as well.

Fortunately Bachelor Nation is vast, and we’ve got lots of chances for things to go right. Even if (god forbid) there’s no BIP and there’s no Bachelorette, the new spin-off series Listen to Your Heart has already wrapped production and is set to premiere in April.
