Farrah Abraham Called Out for 'Ignorance and Stupidity' Over Instagram Posts Wearing Face Masks With Sophia
Former Teen Mom OG star Farrah Abraham is basically a master at posting insensitive content to social media at this point, between questionable YouTube videos, racy Instagram posts, and straight-up ignorant comments about the current climate. Now, she's being dragged for recent posts regarding Coronavirus prevention with her daughter, Sophia.
The 28-year-old TV personality took to Instagram this week, as reported by PopCulture.com, to share a montage of photos and videos, showing her and Sophia out and about wearing face masks. "Still the coolest celeb mom even during #covid_19 #latex #facemask," she captioned the post. Of course, this was met with criticism, with one person writing, "Or if you stayed home you could leave the gloves and face masks to all the medical professionals who are desperate for them."
Sophia also shared a post to her Instagram, similarly showing her and Farrah wearing face masks and stocking up on Lysol and other disinfectant products. "Self #quartine [sic] ready go team!," the caption read.
People immediately began dragging Farrah for her choice to wear a face mask, with a commenter writing on the post above, "Blown away at the ignorance and stupidity. Leave the masks for the people this disease actually could kill. And maybe stop posting stuff about serious matters for attention like this. Unreal. I feel sorry for this child." Another person wrote, "My god! You are SOOOOO EXTRA!!!!! This is all for ATTENTION! I feel so bad for your kid!" A third was a bit nicer, writing directly to Sophia, "The mask only helps if you're contagious! Won't keep you from getting the virus love! Tell your mom to do her homework before she had you guys out looking like you don't know what is going on."
Reuters reports that according to the World Health Organization, you should only wear a face mask if you are sick or if you are caring for someone who is sick. It doesn't appear this applies to Farrah or Sophia, so instead, as commenters are pointing out, they're taking away from those who actually need them.
