'Friends' Reunion is Still a 'Maybe' Despite HBO Max's Interest

Could HBO be taking any longer to decide on a Friends reunion?!

E! News reports that HBO chief content officer Kevin Reilly revealed at the TV Critics Association press tour this week that the network bigwigs have yet to make a decision about the discussed unscripted reunion. The special is reported to have all six main stars, as well as the show’s creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman on board.

Reilly explained, “There's interest all the way around, and yet we can't seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it, so today unfortunately it's still a maybe.”

The news is fairly surprising considering that the beloved sitcom is still one of the most-streamed shows to date. In addition, Rachel Green actor Jennifer Aniston has stated on a few occasions that the cast would happily do a reunion.

The special could also serve as a "welcome home" for the sitcom, as HBO recently acquired the rights to the series from Netflix. The show, which aired from 1994-2004, is currently in the process of moving over to the network’s streaming service.

I guess a “maybe” is better than a “no,” but hopefully the bosses over at HBO pull through with what all of us Friends fans deserve, and soon!
