Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin took time this week to put some rumors about one of his newly-reported HBO spinoff series to bed…well, kind of.

SYFY WIRE reports that Martin posted on his LiveJournal page to disclose the little amount that he could about the upcoming show. He couldn’t share a ton of information, but he did address a few questions about the untitled prequel show, which follows the Targaryen family 300 years prior to the events of GoT. Though reports have claimed that HBO is gearing up to order a pilot of the show, Martin says it isn’t quite there yet.

Don't worry, the award-winning writer did give us some good news along with the disappointing. He confirmed that the show does have a title, and that it is not the obvious title of his book, Fire & Blood, on which the show is loosely based. He also confirmed that the series “has a script and a bible, and both of them are terrific, first-rate, exciting.” If the man who created storylines such as the Red Wedding says the script is exciting, then we must really have something to look forward to.

Lastly, and arguably most importantly, Martin did confirm that the show will have dragons. This might seem like a no-brainer, as the Targaryens without their dragons is like Tony Stark without his Iron Man suit, but it is nice to hear it all the same.

I guess we'll just have to keep waiting patiently for HBO to finally move forward with the pilot. And in the meantime we'll keep a close eye on the first prequel series, unofficially titled The Long Night, starring Naomi Watts, Miranda Richardson, and more, which is currently in the works.
