HBO confirmed in a press release that the rebooted cult-favorite teen drama Gossip Girl has been picked up for a second season.

The modernized reboot, which features a more diverse, more queer, and overall more socially conscious cast of characters, premiered earlier this summer and instantly shattered viewing records, becoming HBO Max’s most-viewed original series at the time.

An instant social media sensation obtaining around 15 billion total social impressions during its launch, the reimagined series also turned its cast of newcomers -- Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Thomas Doherty, and more -- into overnight sensations with fervent fan bases to boot.

The show’s official Instagram account broke the renewal news with a post teasing its return.

“You’ll want to keep your phone close, I won’t be gone for long. S1 continues this fall, with S2 to follow,” the caption read, alongside a video clip of the cast checking their phones for the latest Gossip Girl blast.

When is the reboot coming to HBO Max?

The second season of Gossip Girl, set to hit HBO Max on December 1.
