'Grey's Anatomy' Alum Patrick Dempsey Channels Derek Shepherd to Remind Fans to Wear Face Masks
Paging Dr. McDreamy! Patrick Dempsey may not play Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy anymore, but he does want everyone to stay healthy amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As reported by Good Morning America, Dempsey posted a photo on his Instagram this week that showed the actor wearing a white-and-black checkered face mask, which you can check out below.
Channeling his inner Dr. Shepherd, Dempsey captioned the post, "It's a Beautiful Day to Save Lives," which was his character’s good-luck catchphrase on Grey’s. He also added the hashtags #WearAMask, #COVID19, and #YourActionsSaveLives. The picture really highlights those baby blues that made everyone fall in love with Derek Shepherd all the way back when the medical drama premiered in 2005.
Even if Dempsey isn't really a doctor, it's great to see him use a role that so many people loved to spread awareness about the pandemic. People in the comments section loved the reference, with many people lamenting that they miss Derek on the show. "The caption hit me in the feels," wrote one fan, with another commenting, "Thank you for showing your support for those of us who respect our fellow neighbor by wearing a mask."
