Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Boyfriend Now: An Update on Nicholas Godejohn and Gypsy's New Fiancé
If you're fascinated by all things true crime, chances are you know the story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her late mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The murder of Dee Dee at the hands of Gypsy Rose's then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn has been details on numerous specials and documentaries, such as HBO's Mommy Dead and Dearest. More recently, Joey King and Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette portrayed the pair in Hulu's series The Act. And though Gypsy was sentenced to 10 years in prison back in 2015 for second-degree murder, her story is still in the center of the spotlight today.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Boyfriend Now
Gypsy Rose and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, conspired together to kill Dee Dee, after she had abused her daughter all her life. (Gypsy would later agree with experts that it was a case of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.) Godejohn was ultimately served with a life sentence in prison by Feb. 2019, with prosecutors declining to seek the death penalty.
Now, Godejohn feels extremely hurt by Gypsy, as reported by Cosmopolitan. “I loved Gypsy to the point where I would do anything for her. I’ve proven that with what I did,” he said in a 20/20 special from 2018. "Unfortunately, because of how far I went, I feel as if she’s betrayed me. I feel that she’s abandoned me."
Where is Gypsy Rose Blanchard Today?
Gypsy, now 27, is currently serving her 10-year sentence at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, and has since given multiple interviews about what happened with her mother. In 2018, her stepmother Kristy Blanchard provided an update on Gypsy, claiming, "She's doing amazing."
"She is thriving," Kristy added. "There has been no long-term side effects from all the medication her mom had given her. She has a clean bill of health, thank God — and I really only think what it has done was stunt her growth."
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Engaged to Pen Pal
It was reported in April 2019 that Gypsy got engaged to a pen pal who's been writing to her in prison. Family friend Fancy Macelli confirmed the news, telling PEOPLE, "They are very happy. You can hear excitement in her voice." Macelli would not disclose Gypsy's fiancé's name at her request at the time, however by July 2019, it was revealed to be Ken.
The first photos of the family, along with Ken, were released in July as well.
The Killer Thorn of Gypsy Rose
Dr. Phil's new true crime podcast, Analysis of a Murder, premiered in April 2019 on Stitcher, featuring an interview with Gypsy entitled "The Killer Thorn of Gypsy Rose." You can listen to it here. As reported by Cosmopolitan, the interview includes Gypsy recounting how she reacted the moment when Nick killed her mother.
