If anyone knows what it's like to get ripped to shreds on social media, it’s director Rian Johnson. When his film Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out in 2017, the dedicated fandom would've have sent him and his film to a galaxy far, far away if they could. Luckily, he was able to transform the hate into creative inspiration.

CinemaBlend reports that Johnson recently sat down with Deadline to promote his upcoming film, Knives Out, starring Chris Evans, Toni Collette, and other big-name stars. In the interview, the Murder on the Orient Express director talked about the trials and tribulations of the internet, and how he was able to turn lemons into lemonade. He explained:

“Anyone who’s on Twitter these days, God bless you because it’s rough waters out there, but there’s also wonderful stuff about it. That’s why we’re all still on it I guess. That’s one of the things [Knives Out] engages with, the current state of online culture. Whether you made a Star Wars movie or you have a cooking show, whatever you’re doing on there, someone’s going to be screaming at you about it probably. Let’s put it on a screen in a way we can all maybe have a laugh about it.”

That is definitely a positive outlook on the wrath of the Star Wars fanbase.
