Is Veronica Pregnant on 'Riverdale'? Minor Detail Has Fans Buzzing
By Natalie Zamora
The latest episode of Riverdale, "Chapter Forty-Five: The Stranger," saw, of course, tons of major moments. From the Gargoyle King being identified to Archie Andrews appearing very much alive, fans have expectedly been discussing and analyzing almost every moment. And now that we're all kind of over Tall Boy's reveal, many are talking about the possibility of Veronica Lodge being pregnant. Yes, we're serious. *Spoilers Ahead.*
The speculation stems from one minor detail in the episode, which was then amplified by the official Archie Comics Twitter account. In the episode, we see Veronica at the hospital after her dad Hiram is shot. In walks Reggie Mantle, coming to show some support. Sweet, sure. In his hands, however, is a blue balloon which reads, "It's a boy!" along with flowers. We initially figured this was just him trying to be funny, but one simple tweet made us look at it very differently.
After the balloon was called "a detail that shouldn't go unnoticed" by the official Archie Comics account, tons of Riverdale fans started asking the question: Is Veronica pregnant? What else would that balloon possibly mean, if it really does have solid significance? Tons replied to the tweet, writing things such as, "I’m so confused by that, so is #veggie having a baby?!?!?!" and "Uhh what. I’m concerned and I pray Veronica isn’t pregnant."
However, after their mentions blew up, the Twitter account was quick to clarify they were simply trolling. "it's funny because you know he just grabbed the first balloon he saw. that's it. not any deeper meaning. unless there is and we're all gonna find out later. but maybe not. it's still funny," they tweeted. In a follow-up tweet, they added, "to further clarify: it was just a funny detail, please stop yelling at me." The account then went on to reply to fans, further explaining it was only a joke.
As the Riverdale fanbase is constantly looking for any tiny clues to analyze, this probably wasn't the best joke. We'll now never get it out of our minds that Veronica just might be pregnant one day.
