I bet a lot of Jake Gyllenhaal fans are creepily whispering “I volunteer as tribute” right about now.

Gyllenhaal recently did an interview with Willie Geist of TODAY to promote his new Broadway play Sea Wall / A Life, where he dropped some exciting news about his future.

In the interview, he first explained the plot of the play, sharing, “It's a piece about faith, family…In fact, it's mostly a story about two fathers and my character, who's about to become a dad, who remembers his relationship with his father and his father's death, and explores what he therefore feels the idea of becoming a father himself," E! News reports.

Gyllenhaal then took a moment to reflect on what he learned from the experience, adding, “I’ve learned…You know, I am not a father…I do hope to be a father one day.”

The 38-year-old actor has been staying very busy in his career, recently playing Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and now starring in Antônio Campos’ upcoming film The Devil All the Time, set to be released in 2020.

While his professional life is widely known and well-received, his personal life is much more of a mystery. It's been rumored that Gyllenhaal is dating 23-year-old French model Jeanne Cadieu, but neither have confirmed their relationship publicly.

We will have to see if babies are in Gyllenhaal’s near future.
