James Gunn Reveals One 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Scene That Has 'Tons' of Easter Eggs
The character of Peter Quill, portrayed by Chris Pratt, has always been at the heart of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
The opening scene of the first film is particularly gut-wrenching, as viewers watch a young Quill see his dying mother for the last time before he is abducted by a group of alien thieves and smugglers called Ravagers. As such, the mystery of his parentage is one of the main plot lines in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, revealing that Quill's biological father is actually an immensely powerful god-like entity who can manipulate the matter around him and basically create anything he wants.

As cool as this may sound, Quill's father Ego has sinister intentions. Instead of being the long-lost dad Quill had always wanted, Ego instead intends to use his son's celestial power to consume every world in the universe. Ego had impregnated countless women in his quest for a powerful lineage, and a pivotal moment in the film comes when the Guardians see the bones of the children who failed Ego's test. As reported by Screen Rant, director James Gunn hid hints to other Marvel works in the bones.
The filmmaker took to Twitter while doing a Guardians 2 watch-party this week, stating that the scene has "TONS" of Easter egg skulls.
Of course, fans are now on the hunt to discover them, and many fans responded to Gunn's tweet above. "Note to self, skip back to that scene after the watch party!," one person wrote, while another added, "See, now I want to freeze frame that shot and go exploring..."
The director has admitted to hiding many Easter eggs in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, some of which have yet to be discovered by fans. The third installment of the series will also be helmed by Gunn, but the film has yet to have an official release date.
