James Gunn Says 'Anything is Possible' When Asked About a Marvel vs DC Movie
There has always been an underlying competitiveness between Marvel and DC, but there has also always been a large fandom on each side that love the franchise just as much. And while there has yet to be a Marvel/DC crossover film made, many have often hoped to see all of their favorite superheroes on one screen.
Now, ComicBook.com reports that director James Gunn says it could one day be a possibility. The 53-year-old filmmaker recently did a Q&A on his Instagram Story, and when one follower asked, “You think it would be possible a DC vs Marvel movie?,” he responded, “In the past I would have said no way, but today I think anything is possible.”
Gunn might be the perfect person to weigh in on this question. He directed both of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films, and is now working on wrapping up DC’s The Suicide Squad.
Though Gunn says there is a definite chance that a crossover will happen one day, it probably won’t be in the near future. Both studios have many projects in the works over the next few years, not to mention that hammering out the deal between the two powerhouses would probably take a while.
But in the meantime, keep an eye out for Gunn's The Suicide Squad, out in theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
