Marvel's Morbius is set to hit theaters later this year and recently dropped its first trailer, giving fans a taste of what's to come. For those unfamiliar with the story, Jared Leto plays Michael Morbius, a doctor who has a rare blood disease and in an effort to cure himself, accidentally turns himself into a vampire.

Golden Globe nominee Jared Harris will also feature in Morbius, and fans have been bursting with theories about his role. As reported by ComicBook.com, many fans speculated that Harris was to play Dr. Otto Octavius, otherwise known as the Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus.

Well, Harris squashed that theory while speaking to Variety. "No," he answered when asked if he's playing Doctor Octopus. "I love the imagination that the fans have, it’s exciting for me to think about the imagination that that fans have. But yeah no, it’s not."

Rumors are now circulating that Harris is playing the character Emil Nikos, a longtime friend of Dr. Morbius, after movie insider Charles Murphy responded to a story by ComicBook.com on Twitter.

Morbius is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2020.
