Jenelle Evans has her fans' backs, apparently. You might have noticed an influx of celebrities asking fans to "text" them on social media, and Evans is claiming there's an ulterior motive to the request. The former Teen Mom star says it's a ploy to collect data from people's phones.

She took to Twitter to share the revelation. "Scam alert: celebs trying to get you to “text” them. The company they are working for is trying to get your phone data," she wrote on July 8. "Heard it through the grapevine."

However, some fans accused Jenelle of attempting similar schemes with fans. "Wait.. Like your Jenelle Evans World Website?" one fan replied, prompting the reality star to defend herself.

"I never ask for anyone’s phone number and connect with my fans through my website, not from using their private information," she insisted.

That didn't stop fans from throwing shade, though. "You’re constantly trying to sell cheap junk to your 'fans' for a quick buck. You are no better than anyone so take a seat," another tweeted.

It was just two months earlier that Jenelle was accused of attempting to sell old shipments of her eyebrow kits. "FINALLY our shipment has arrived!," Jenelle wrote on Instagram in May, though fans quickly realized the boxes were from 2019.

Social media definitely promotes a lack of transparency, and all celebrities, even Jenelle, are still trying to find the line between authenticity and turning a profit.
