Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara Hit Venice Film Festival for 'Joker' Premiere

Just like his newest film Joker, Joaquin Phoenix and his girlfriend, actor Rooney Mara, made quite the sensation at the Venice Film Festival this week.

Phoenix, who stars in the Todd Phillips’ film as the titular character, brought Mara as his date to the Italian red carpet.

Mara looked beautiful as she supported her reported fiancé on his big night. The 34-year-old star wore a white dress from Givenchy, reminding E! News, who reported on the event, of Audrey Hepburn.

Though the couple did not pose together on the red carpet, paparazzi got an adorable shot of Phoenix admiring his leading lady from afar. The couple is notoriously quiet about their love life, and rarely show more than a subtle handhold in front of crowds.

Phoenix and Mara were first linked romantically in 2017 when they were spotted together at a wellness retreat, E! News explained. They publicly confirmed their relationship four months later.

Though we will probably never know the date of the couple's alleged upcoming wedding, we know we can definitely go see Joker when it hits theaters Oct. 4.
