Kailyn Lowry Reportedly Warning 'Teen Mom' Fans of Leah Messer's Alleged Cult
Teen Mom 2 stars Kailyn Lowry and Leah Messer have been best friends for some time now, but it seems that due to Leah’s recent involvement in what Kailyn regards as a cult, the two might not be friends for much longer.
RadarOnline reports that Leah recently reached out to fans and followers on Instagram Live to ask if anyone was interested in joining the Mastery in Transformational Training organization, also known as MITT. One fan, Rachel Chitwood, sent Leah her phone number for more information.
Leah then allegedly called Rachel from a blocked number and began the process of recruiting her. The two exchanged texts about Rachel coming to one of the MITT events in Jan. 2020, which would cost the young mom-of-two $600 to attend. Leah then allegedly became mean when Rachel explained that she couldn’t afford it.
After the little dispute, Rachel posted the conversation to Instagram and tagged the MTV star. Kailyn subsequently reached out to Rachel to warn her of the “deadly cult.” The Coffee Convos Podcast host reportedly stated that “those types of programs target weak people who can be manipulated.” She later added of her longtime co-star, “I don’t want to lose her as a friend but I also don’t think any of this is ok.”
According to The Sundial, MITT is a program from a company called Lifespring, which was created in 1974 by a man named John Hanley. It recruited members by word-of-mouth references and promised improved living and leadership by “increasing human potential.” Lifespring later had to pay out damages to those who accused its psychological practices of causing mental damages and suicides.
It is unclear if MITT still uses the same methods as Lifespring, but either way, Kailyn is clearly not on board with Leah’s new belief system, especially when it comes to recruiting other young moms. We'll be waiting patiently to see if Leah responds publicly.
