Kanye West is Developing 'Star Wars'-Inspired Low Income Housing

Throughout his career, Kanye West has demonstrated that his inspirations and influences are more than a little eclectic, ranging from anime films to sports cars to the Bible. This week, however, he proved there's another creative influence in his philanthropic life, announcing that he's developing Star Wars-themed low income housing.
West told Forbes (via People) that he and his creative team are working to develop prefabricated houses inspired by the barebones aesthetic of Luke Skywalker’s childhood home from Star Wars. The prototypes for the homes, according to Forbes, are “oblong and dozens of feet tall.”
As People reports, West has long been a fan of the Star Wars franchise, referencing it in his music as early as 2005. In 2007, West also produced a pilot for a Comedy Central puppet comedy, Alligator Boots, which featured Kim Kardashian--who West had never met but demanded to include--dressed as Princess Leia.
This is also not West’s first foray into philanthropy. Most recently, the Yeezy shoe mogul and his wife pledged over $500,000 to relief for the California wildfires, and Kanye remains an advocate for racial justice and mental health--though he has also attracted controversy for his support of Donald Trump.
In any case, it’s good to see Kanye putting his intense creativity into some real philanthropy--he produces great art, but it’s always important to give back as well.
