Fans Are Confused After Khloé Kardashian Starts Promoting Medicine on Instagram
Among their various fashion, beauty, and lifestyle endeavors, the Kardashians are known for making money from sponsored posts on Instagram. In fact, each one of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters reportedly earns over half a million dollars from a single sponsored post! Typically, these posts promote things like hair care vitamins, teeth whitening products, clothing companies, and sometimes baby products. However, Khloé Kardashian decided to promote something else besides lifestyle or fashion goods in her latest sponsored Instagram post.
In the caption, the reality star described how she's suffered from "debilitating" migraines since the sixth grade. "It’s robbed me of so many experiences and so much time with the people I love. I’m at the point in my life where I’ve had enough," she explained. She then explained that she is on a new treatment called Nurtec ODT, a prescription medicine used to treat migraines. "It alleviates my pain quickly and makes me feel back to normal again so I can focus on what matters to me," Khloé wrote of the medication.
Fans on Reddit were pretty confused by the post. "Khloé is sponsoring medication now?!," the thread began, with many people commenting that they hope medicine advertisements don't become a regular part of Instagram.
"Wonder why we never saw any of these debilitating migraines on the show, since you've had them since 6th grade and all," one fan wondered. Another fan was more supportive, but still skeptical, writing, "I'm happy she's using her platform to speak out about normalizing migraines. However I feel funny about it because it's advertising and she's getting paid to do this." Most people lamented that this was just another instance of a Kardashian cash-grab. "It just feels like another instance of them trying to connect and be open with the fans when they're just trying to profit off of it," said one user.
Hopefully, Khloé actually uses this medication and isn't promoting a drug that she's never tried. That would be incredibly inconsiderate, especially because so many people do actually suffer from terrible migraines.
