Kylie Jenner Gets Attacked With Photoshop Accusations Again
By Ryan Carroll
Kylie Jenner is a hugely successful beauty mogul and trendsetter who, like her sisters, is a defining voice in fashion. But, also like her sisters, she’s not without controversy and duplicity--as was made clear this week, when she was hit with a new spate of accusations that she digitally edited photos of herself.
The controversy emerged, according to Cosmopolitan, after Jenner posted one of many photos of her luxurious beach vacation to Instagram, this time of herself posing on a bed with friend Stassie Karanikolaou. However, sharp-eyed users noted irregularities in Jenner’s photo, which quickly developed into the suggestion that she had used Photoshop on the image.
“Next time you photoshop your pictures make sure you're not sitting in front of a pillow with stripes ;),” one user wrote, observing that the part of the pillow behind Jenner’s back had stripes that were curved differently from the rest of the pillow. A number of other comments identified the curvature of the stripes and accused Jenner of Photoshopping, though few of these comments had many likes or replies.
As Cosmopolitan reports, one of the major indicators of a photo edited in Photoshop or FaceTune is that stripes are bent at irregular angles; this often occurs because, when attempting to digitally bend the shape of a body part, the editor will accidentally bend surrounding elements of the picture--in Jenner’s case, the stripes on the pillow.
Previously, Jenner has come under fire for digitally editing photos to exaggerate aspects of physique, with critics saying that her edits perpetuate unfair beauty standards. The makeup mogul has also been criticized for being, shall we say, a little less than original with some fashion choices.
While we can’t say for absolutely certain whether Jenner Photoshopped the photo, it definitely doesn’t look great--and we’re sure the accusations won’t stop anytime soon.
