Kylie Jenner Lands High Spot on Forbes' List of America's Wealthiest Celebrities
By Jennifer Fabiano
Not only did Kylie Jenner just secure a spot on Forbes' 2018 list of America’s Wealthiest Celebs, but she landed herself within the top five of the exclusive list.
George Lucas claimed the top spot with a net worth of $5.4 billion, thanks largely to the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.1 billion. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg came in behind Lucas with $3.7 billion. Media mogul Oprah Winfrey claimed the third spot with $2.8 billion, and Michael Jordan the fourth with $1.7 billion.
Kylie secured the fifth spot with a net worth of $900 million, sharing the spot with Jay-Z, who is also worth $900 million. The 21-year-old reality star owns 100 percent of her beauty company Kylie Cosmetics, and is on track to become the youngest self-made billionaire ever.
Kylie Cosmetics has sold a total of $630 million worth of products since its launch two years ago. Jenner, who has more than 168 million followers across different platforms, accredits a lot of her success to social media.
In July, Jenner was named one of America’s Richest Self-Made Women and was put on the cover of Forbes.
"Social media is an amazing platform," Jenner told Forbes. "I have such easy access to my fans and my customers."
"I struggled for a minute with finding something to do on my own," Kylie said. "Ever since I was in sixth grade, I would wear purple eye shadow. I turned to makeup to help me feel more confident." As fans of Keeping Up With the Kardashians know, this is true.
Congratulations to Kylie on this incredible feat!
