'Lovecraft Country' Release Date, Cast, Synopsis, Trailer: Everything You Need to Know
By Lillian Marx
From Jordan Peele as an executive producer comes Lovecraft Country, a 10-episode HBO horror series framed, like Peele’s pervious projects Get Out and Us, by American racism, and is based on the 2016 novel of the same name. The show will cover a lot of ground, says showrunner Misha Green, who says, “We have the ghost story. We have the adventure, the Indiana Jones story. We have the mystery story. We have the sci-fi story.” Here’s everything you need to know about Lovecraft Country.
Lovecraft Country Release Date
The show premieres Sunday, Aug. 16 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
Lovecraft Country Cast
The all-star cast includes Jonathan Majors, Michael Kenneth Williams, Courtney B. Vance, Jurnee Smollett, Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, Erica Tazel, Jamie Harris, Abbey Lee, Jamie Chung, Jordan Patrick Smith, Mac Brandt, and Tony Goldwyn.
Lovecraft Country Synopsis
The show is an adaptation of Matt Ruff’s 2016 book of the same name. It takes place in 1950s New England, where its protagonists are threatened by institutional racism—arguably much more than by the mythical monsters that plague the area.
