Mark Hamill Shares the 'Silliest Fight' He Ever Had With Carrie Fisher
By Hannah Wigandt
Star Wars legend Mark Hamill always has something funny to say on Twitter. He is definitely the man to go to if you ever want a good dad joke, but in his latest tweet, he answered a fan question regarding the late Carrie Fisher. When asked about the silliest fight he had with his on-screen sister Princess Leia, Hamill had an easy answer: “When they told us it would soon be revealed we were siblings.”
Many immediately started a debate in the reply section, and it was explained that even though Luke and Leia’s mother was Queen Amidala of Naboo, she was elected Queen so the twins would not inherit any royalty. Princess Leia’s title comes from her adoptive mother Queen Breha Organa, and since Luke was taken in by his farmer aunt and uncle, it is clear he is not royalty at all. Fisher was right.
For Star Wars fans, though, this little anecdote is mainly heartwarming especially considering the passing of Fisher. Hamill is always tweeting about his late co-star and keeping her memory alive by starting hashtags such as #CarrieOnForever and #AlwaysWithUs.
Director of the next Star Wars film, J.J. Abrams, has confirmed the role of Princess Leia will still be played by Fisher, as they are using unseen footage from both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi for her role.
Star Wars: Episode IX premieres Dec. 20, 2019.
