'The Office's Michael Schur is About to Transform Back Into Mose Schrute for a Good Cause
Michael Schur not only served as a writer and producer on The Office, but he also played Dwight Schrute's cousin Moses "Mose" Schrute. The eccentric character may not have played a major part in the workplace comedy, but he starred in some bizarre scenes and rocked a pretty iconic neckbeard that couldn't possibly be forgotten.
And now, as reported by ComicBook.com, Schur has been inspired to bring his beard back for a good cause—growing it out to raise money for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank amid the coronavirus pandemic. Schur has already blown his monetary goal out of the water, surpassing his $150,000 target with $173,000 raised since March 19. Presumably, The Office fandom is partially to thank for that!

On top of growing the hilarious beard, The Good Place creator has agreed to take on an unpleasant task with each level of money raised. For instance, the producer will eat a fruit pie (which he apparently is not a fan of), and will wear the jersey of his rival sports team.
Schur spoke to CNN in the video below, explaining why taking on the challenge was important to him. "It's one of my favorite charities, I give them money every year, and then demand obviously soared through the roof," he shared. "So I had first said I'll match up to $50,000, and then about 30 seconds after I posted the fundraiser, we had like $10,000." He added that the challenge began by him offering to shave his head if fans raised $50,000 in one night. The goal was met within an hour, in fact, and off came the hair!
"A bunch of people wrote in and said 'Instead of shaving your head would you consider regrowing Mose’s beard?'" Schur continued. "So again not thinking any of this through I put up that as a poll 'Would you rather shave my head or grow the neck beard?' The neckbeard won and now I’m, I don’t know, five weeks into this nightmare."
Shout out to Schur for taking one for the team to support those in need right now. Not only is it very commendable, but fans also are excited to to see Mose Schrute 2.0!
