Mike Johnson Reacts After He's Snubbed for 'The Bachelor' Leading Role Again
By Rachel Reed
How does Mike Johnson feel about someone else becoming The Bachelor instead of him once again? According to Us Weekly, he's incredibly supportive.
And there's plenty of reason to be. The next star of the franchise, Matt James, will become the first-ever black Bachelor, also marking the second-ever black lead after Rachel Lindsay's stint as the Bachelorette back in 2017. While others were upset Johnson wasn't chosen, he says he was never mad about it. In an Instagram video, he shared where he's really at with the situation, even giving his competition a shout-out after having congratulated him personally.
“I just wanna give a huge shout-out to Matt James as the new Bachelor. Congratulations, bro! I definitely texted him earlier, but I wanna show him love and shout him out publicly as well," Mike said. "I wanna give also a huge shout-out to ABC. They listened to us. I’m giving you guys a shout-out the fans. Love you guys so much. They listened to you guys. You guys marched and, like, sent all these emails, I’m sure, and tagged Chris [Harrison] and tagged [creator] Mike Fleiss and tagged everybody that be, and they listened to you guys. I wanna say give yourself a pat on the back, seriously. That’s amazing. Your guys’ voices are definitely being heard.”
Mike says there's never been any hard feelings, reiterating his support and adding, "Don't feel bad for me at all. I am just so elated. I have so many things coming down the pipeline. I hope that you enjoy my book, I have so much to talk about. Quite honestly, be happy, baby. Don't say nothing bad about my homie. Matt’s gonna do a great job. And just know that they listened to us. We got a black lead, which is an amazing thing."
Though this is the second time Mike was snubbed for the part of the Bachelor, we're so happy to see he's not sweating it.
