New York Cosplayer Cheered on for Dressing as Miles Morales at Black Lives Matter Movement Protest
Protests have erupted across America and beyond after the brutal murder of George Floyd and other black people at the hands of police officers. Earlier this month, one protestor made headlines after attending a protest in Philadelphia dressed as Batman, and it seems that another superhero has decided to make an appearance. As reported by CBR, one protestor, whose identity is thus far unknown, has been cosplaying as Miles Morales/Spider-Man in the New York City area to show his support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
"We gotta make a change, it’s time for us as a people to start making some changes. Let's change the way we eat, live and treat each other," the protestor said in one tweet, quoting rapper Tupac Shakur. Known only by his Twitter handle, @CosPlayNay, the individual was also seen at a protest carrying a "Black Trans Lives Matter" sign. Standing up for the oppressed, promoting hope, and no one knows his real name? Sounds like a bonafide superhero to me! You can check out some videos of him in action below.
"Being pro black does not mean anti-any other race," he penned in another tweet. "But for too long we’ve been judged as criminals because of the color of our skin. It’s 2020 and we’re still fighting racism. NO MORE!! YOU’RE EITHER BY OUR SIDE! ON OUR SIDE! OR IN OUR WAY!" CosPlayNay can be seen holding up his fist in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and walking alongside other protestors.
With all of these superheroes emerging, who knows who will turn up next! Hopefully CosPlayNay will continue to spread a unifying message and make more appearances as protests continue.
