Missguided Copies Kim Kardashian's Dress Right After She Begs for Brands Not to
By Olivia Montine
Kim Kardashian's iconic fashion pieces are always being replicated for the masses--but we think the process might have hit a record speed over the weekend.
In an Instagram post on Feb. 8, the star shared a picture of herself rocking a long metallic dress with a midriff cut-out. The caption was directly aimed at brands who typically create knock-offs of her style, with the reality TV star pleading, "Can you please wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off?"
Just mere hours (three, to be exact) after the original post, however, fast fashion brands were already jumping on the trend. British clothing company Missguided posted a near-exact replica of the dress on their Instagram, with the caption "The devil works hard but Missguided works harder @kimkardashian."
The post was later removed, but fashion knockoff policing account Diet Prada was quick to screenshot and repost--with an interesting accusation at the mogul in question.
Yep, that's right--the brand brought into question the possibility that this could all be one giant collab designed for more attention towards both the Kardashians and Missguided. The brand's sheer three-hour timeline for creating the dress alone looks suspicious, and some of the Kardashians have purposely collaborated with brands before to create dupes of their most famous pieces.
So, was Missguided truly just sitting at their computers waiting for Kim to post, or was this all an elaborate scheme to generate more attention for both parties? Either way, we're sure the stunning piece will be sold out online in seconds.
