After the Game of Thrones finale aired, there seemed to be nothing but negativity surrounding the HBO series. Fans were so irate, they turned to Change.org to create a petition demanding that Season 8 be remade with "competent writers," receiving 1.7 million signatures. Other angry fans used an algorithm to ensure that when anyone Googled "bad writers," the first names to pop up were showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.

With the total uproar over the final season, it may come as a surprise to hear that most viewers actually enjoyed it, as shown in a new study. According to Digital Trends, a poll was conducted by YouGov, resulting in the majority of people in favor of the show's conclusion.

The survey showed that 52% of Thrones viewers were "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the final season. Not only that, but 72% think that the show deserves the Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series this year. On the negative side, only 41% reported dissatisfaction with Season 8, and the rest were neutral.

YouGov surveyed 2,475 adults over Aug. 21, 2019 and Aug. 23, 2019 and admits a 3% margin of error.

While all of this is great news for Game of Thrones and its possible success at the Emmys, the fan-base still did not think highly of Thrones' showrunners. When asked if they would watch what Weiss and Benioff are making next, the survey saw only 29% interested.

We'll see how Thrones does at the Emmys this year, taking place Saturday, Sept. 14.
