VIDEO: See 'Stranger Things' Actress Natalia Dyer's New Role With First 'Yes, God, Yes' Trailer
Fans of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things know Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Mike Wheeler's determined older sister. Nancy goes on her own search for the Demogorgon in season one after her friend Barb goes missing, she is essential to the takedown of Hawkins Lab in season two, and is behind the discovery of the human-rat Mind Flayer hybrid that descends on the town in season three.
Nancy is one of my favorite characters on the show, and Dyer is a skilled actress who brings her A-game to the role. Fellow fans of the star will be happy to know that she will appear in an upcoming coming-of-age film called Yes, God, Yes. As reported by Collider, Dyer leads the cast as Alice, a 16-year-old Catholic girl growing up in Midwestern America during the early 2000s.
Although Alice has always been a straight-laced kid, when an online chat room turns sexual, she discovers masturbation. Ridden with guilt, she decides to attend a mysterious religious retreat to try and suppress her urges. Faced with temptation, she contends with uncovering secrets and coming to terms with her beliefs. You can watch the first trailer below.
The 2000s vibe has already got me hooked with the presence of AOL chats and clunky cell phones. It looks like they even have a boxy computer in the family room! Classic.
The film is based on the experiences of director Karen Maine, who faced her own dilemmas exploring sexuality while growing up Catholic in the Midwest. Her story was made into a 2017 short film, which also starred Dyer. Yes, God, Yes is set to be released this July.
